Boston and Jeremy's Unexpected 1st Day of School

What a day.  What a crazy day.  I should be in bed, but I wanted to blog this while it was all fresh in my mind.  I thought Boston was going to be attending Kindergarten at our local elementary one week from today... then I received a phone call telling me that the charter school we had hoped to get into had a spot for Boston!  I was so stinkin' excited!!  Only problem was that they started school yesterday... and I only had a couple hours until the afternoon Kindergarten class started for today.  So with a mad rush here and there we got all of his records and paperwork filled out.  I borrowed a uniform from a good friend that luckily fit perfectly.

Trying to make it a special day I made Boston a quick K pancake for his lunch....

We sang "Happy School Days to You"

Took a couple of quick pictures

and I am DYING that my kid doesn't have a haircut for his 1st day of school.... but oh well, no time for that!  We arrived and his teacher was so warm and welcoming.  Boston was so excited and didn't seem a bit nervous.  He went right in with the class and didn't even look back.
-
I didn't have time to think about it.  I didn't have time to be emotional.  It was such a crazy morning!  The 3 hours flew by, and I couldn't wait to pick up my little guy!

We went and had Ice Glaciers to celebrate and talk about his day.  His favorite part was Recess.  I asked him what he didn't like very much and he said "Nothing.  I loved everything!"  He really loved his teacher, and going to art class.  I am so glad he had a great 1st day, besides all the craziness.  I am so glad he was able to change his mindset and go to a totally different school then he was planning on.   Honestly, I am just glad I survived.

Meanwhile... Jeremy got an email from another student in the EMPA program saying "Does anyone want to carpool to school tonight?"  Jeremy all confused, figures out that school started TONIGHT not tomorrow like he had thought.  Tonight was a formal dinner... so he too went hunting for a "uniform."  D.I. saved the day, and he was able to get to his 1st day just in time.  He loved his 1st day as well.  Boston and Jeremy had VERY similar days!

This morning, before the phone call I had told the kids that we could go to the Dinosaur Museum (2 dollar Tuesday's happening now!)  But after the phone call those plans went flying out the window.  Hadley was crushed.   Absolutely crushed.  She said "This makes me feel really angry!"  So to try to bring some happiness to my little lady I took the kids while Jeremy was at school tonight.

They enjoyed the new Sound Exhibit

Hadley's favorite part is the water/sand area.  Seriously, anything that has water is her favorite.

Boston loved the digging for fossils area.  It was a great ending to our super crazy unexpected day.

Brigham City Temple Open House

Saturday was a very special day.  We were able to go with Boston my parents and one of my neices and some of my nephews to the open house of the new Brigham City Temple.

It is such a beautiful temple.  I love how the church personalizes each temple to the area it's built.  Brigham City is known for their peaches... and so they have a lot of the peach blossom theme throughout the temple, including amazing peach blossom windows!  Some of the paintings inside are of the local area.  To see photos of the inside click here.

It was so neat to watch the kids automatically have such reverence inside the temple.  They could instantly feel it was a special place.

I was so happy to be able to share with Boston and Hadley the wonderful blessings, the wonderful promises, the wonderful work that happens inside the temple.

I love the temple.  I love the peace it brings.  I love the knowledge it gives me that Families Are Forever!

Back to School Pool Party

My Mom hosted her 2nd Annual Back to School Pool Party on Friday!  Oh my goodness, the kiddos had a blast!  A great way to say goodbye to summer!

Boston and Hadley had a blast going down the slide into the pool!

What a splash!

Oh my goodness, lots and lots of splashes!

Then we played a game where the kids had to thaw out and put on a frozen T-shirt!  It was so funny to watch!

They all succeeded!

Then it was time for some delicious grub!

Lunch was a little drama... between the bee's and a snake... but my Mom pulled out the water balloons and all was happy again!

We had 3 pools set up... and the one all the kids wanted to be in was the tiny baby pool or the "hot tub" as they would call it!

Then it was time to make Homemade Ice Cream!  Oh my goodness it was so yummy!!!

The kids were so proud of their creations!

Sadly we didn't get a group picture before half of them left, but we sure did have a lot of fun together and we look forward to all these kiddos putting their best foot forward this school year!  Thanks Mom for another amazing party!
(as always, you can click on the pictures to see them BIGGER!)

Last Week of Summer???

We planned a fun week this week... thinking it was Boston's last week before he officially becomes a school boy!  Then I received a letter in the mail telling me that Kindergartners don't start until the 28th, because they do assessments the first week.  That would have been nice to know before I started the countdown with Boston... oh well.  I am more then thrilled to plan yet another fun last week of summer!
On Monday... we had a super fun BBQ with some friends! Sadly no pictures.
On Tuesday... we had a blast hanging out with Aunts, and Cousins at the park! Sadly no pictures.
On Wednesday... we went up the beautiful American Fork Canyon with My Mom, my sister-in-law and her mom (who was heading the activity), and my nieces and nephews!  We found a beautiful camp spot to hang out, and we got to work on our "craft"

The kiddos used bleach pens and designed their own T-shirts!

Hadley being so careful...

After it dried a bit, they rinsed out the bleach in a bucket of water.

Hung them up to dry...

They were just so proud of their shirts!

While we waited, Hadley had a blast playing the water... something she find ANYWHERE we go.

We ate lunch and went on a little hike...

Finally the shirts were dry!

What a fun fun project.  More then anything I just loved being up in the Canyon.  It's just so peaceful.
-
Thursday...

We enjoyed the last dollar movie for the summer!  I think more then anything, the kids just love the popcorn!

Stay tuned for Friday's adventure... it's going to be GREAT!

Fun Treat!

I made these for a baby shower the other night...  The lady is having a little boy and naming him Madden.  So I thought it was so perfect to put a blue M&M on top!
-
These are so easy, and they were a hit!  Take a baking sheet and put 55 pretzels on it!  Unwrap a package of Rolo's and place one Rolo on each pretzel.  Bake at 350 for 4 minutes!  As soon as you take them out of the oven, top them with nuts or candies!  Yummy!!  For more details go here.

Hadley's Creative Energy

Sometimes I just don't know what to do with this Hadley girl of mine... I thought we were well past the drawing on the wall stage.  I guess we are passed walls, but our little Picasso has created masterpieces on the fridge, and the latest was on the recycling can lid.  She was SO PROUD of this drawing because it was her "splash pad!"  It was hard to be mad at her, when she was so proud of her work.
-
I am thinking I need to do some more art projects with her... a more constructive way to get this creative energy out of this girl!

Our SEVENTH Anniversary!

You know you have been married awhile when the first thing you want to do while the kids are away is get a project done!  Jeremy and I both agreed that we really wanted/needed to get our deck re-done before baby and winter come around.  So the 1st day of our celebration was spent preparing the deck and picnic table for a complete make-over.

Jeremy had to replace alot of rotted wood...

Ahhh... so much better!   I spent most of my time painting the picnic table RED!

Don't worry!  We didn't just work... we had a lot of fun too!  We went to a place called Pizzeria SEVEN twelve.
It was a really fun atmosphere (I felt like I was in a different city state) and it was great food!

Then Jeremy got tickets to go see Fiddler on the Roof at a local outdoor theatre!

It was so fun to watch a play outside!  I loved it!  We had to be there during the SEVEN O'clock hour.
-
The next day we worked our tails off once again!
We re-stained our deck, and continued to paint our picnic table!  Sadly I don't have any good after pictures yet...  It looks like a whole new deck though!
For lunch we had SEVEN layer burritos from Taco Bell, and slurpee's from SEVEN eleven.
After a hard days work we drove up to Sundance to watch SEVEN Brides for SEVEN Brothers.  It was incredible. So well done, and so much fun!

Here is Jeremy taking a picture of the stage and his SEVEN layer treat he chose!

Such a beautiful setting!  Love Love Loved it!
-
The next day we had a quiet Sunday morning, I actually curled my hair for church, we enjoyed church and then went to pick up our kiddos!
-
Jeremy is the most creative anniversary planner!  I loved all the SEVEN things we did!!  I am so glad I made the choice to marry him SEVEN years ago!  He is perfect for me!
