Memorial Day Weekend

I was privileged to work on a 9-11 memorial for many years, which helped me to gain a greater appreciation for all the men and women who have served, and are serving our country. Meeting little boys and girls who have lost their daddy to the war in Iraq, and watching the mom trying to be strong was truly an eye-opening experience for me. You hear the number of deaths and it effects you. But when you see that each of those numbers has a family who now misses them terribly, I think it is then you understand just how much is sacrificed to keep our country, the great country it is.

Another thing I learned is that the armed forces do much more then fight wars. I was able to sit in on a presentation where pictures were shown of all the amazing things our country is doing overseas. Building school, roads, and bridges, all to help make life a little better for others.

I appreciate all those who have served and are serving.
Thank you.
Not only is it the fallen war hero's we remember on Memorial Day, but also are loved ones who have gone before us. I never thought I would be putting flowers on my sisters grave, but unfortunately that is the case. This is the wreath I made for her. It was really therapeutic to create it, remembering some of the things she loved.
I miss her so much.

Although Memorial Day is a sad day, I knew my sister wouldn't want us to just sit around and be sad. So we had plenty of fun over the weekend, spending time with my family.
Boston loved his daddy pushing him around in this truck at Grandma and Grandpa's!

We continued on with our tradition of eating breakfast at a big Memorial Day Celebration, along with about 1,000 other people in the pouring rain!Luckily the rain cleared up so we could go to a Bee's game!
Boston enjoyed watching the seagulls fly over the field, and listening to the music played over the speakers.
My favorite part of the game was when we were doing the YMCA, and they showed us on the jumbo tron. My parents and cousin Tennille had NO IDEA they had been on the screen for about 20 seconds! I wonder if one of them picked their nose?

It was a very fun, yet reflective weekend.

I love the Wreath. It looked even better in person!!! I was able to see it when we went up to the grave site on Sunday, the day before Memorial Day. It made me tear all up! You did a good job!
